Thypoch has announced their first autofocus zoom lens ever. The Chinese lens manufacturer is already well known for their compact and affordable manual focus primes, but with the Voyager 24-50mm f/2.8, it finally enters the autofocus market. The full-frame AF zoom is designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras and features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture and an internal zoom mechanism.

Thypoch Voyager 24-50mm f/2.8 at a glance:

  • Launch price: $619 / £464 / €539
  • Constant aperture standard zoom
  • Designed for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras
  • 92.88mm, 432g
  • weather-sealed

With an internal zooming mechanism, the lens doesn’t extend while zooming, which not only makes it more stable but also eliminates lens creep. It has 16 lens elements arranged in 13 groups, with 2 ASPH, 3 ED, and 3 RHI elements. A 10-blade rounded aperture design ensures soft, round bokeh while also being ideal for creating sun stars at smaller apertures. With a fast, silent autofocus system, it can also be used for video work. As the Voyager is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras, it supports their eye AF and AF-C tracking.

24-50mm encompasses three very useful prime focal lengths that most photographers choose to carry. Ideal for a wide range of subjects from classic documentary to street photography and environmental portraiture. But with a 30cm minimum focusing distance across its zoom range, it also allows you to get close up and capture interesting details. The metal body is fully weather sealed, and dust and moisture resistance make a real difference for a carry-around zoom like the 24-50mm.

The thypoch Voyager 24-50mm f/2.8 is available for $619 / £464 / €539 launch price between May 14 to May 31, 2026, after this you can expect to find it for around $649 / £489 / €569.
