It’s Canon’s entry-level APS-C mirrorless camera in the EOS R series, and as such, has a more basic camera body design. But it does offer Canon’s 24MP APS-C sensor, along with Canon’s reliable colour reproduction and easy to use controls.

Save $200 on the Canon EOS R8

The Canon EOS R8 looks mostly the same as the Canon EOS RP with a similar body size, and a 24.2MP full-frame sensor of about the same resolution. The key difference is in the fantastic subject-detect autofocus system from the high-end Canon EOS R6 Mark II, which gives it one of the most reliable autofocus systems among any camera at a comparable price point.

This lens is among the longest telephoto zooms in Canon’s EOS R series and although we’re looking at a lens that has a variable aperture as opposed to a fixed maximum aperture, it has a versatile zoom range that we’ve found well suited to a wide range of genres.

This small ‘nifty fifty’ improves upon Canon’s older designs and features a Stepper Motor (STM) for smoother and quieter AF. Compatible with full-frame and APS-C DSLRs, it becomes a highly practical and creative short telephoto lens that’s equivalent to 80mm when attached to and APS-C camera.
