The ever-industrious Chinese lens maker, Viltrox, has launched the AF 35mm F1.2 LAB N FE, a fast, full-frame autofocus prime optic for Sony FE mount. Sitting alongside the original AF 35mm F1.2 LAB, the new lens has a more streamlined appearance, eschewing a display.
It has a traditional aperture ring with marked stops for a more tactile experience, and features a 15-element, 10-group optical structure (including 3 HR, 5 ED, and 2 UA elements) to maintain edge-to-edge sharpness and control chromatic aberration in high-contrast or backlit scenes. An 11-blade diaphragm delivers a smooth, rounded bokeh, Viltrox claims, while smooth and fast autofocus performance is provided by the company’s Quad HyperVCM AF system.
The lens is sealed against dust and moisture, with a water- and smudge-resistant front coating, while the full-metal housing and brass mount provide extra durability. The minimum focusing distance is 0.34m to facilitate detailed close-up shooting. Available now for £869. More details can be found at bit.ly/viltrox35
