DJI’s most popular and quite possibly best vlogging camera, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4, launches today. From the various upgrades across the board, 4K 240fps recording, new built-in storage and handling improvements stand out. With the higher fps comes the need for more light and storage, not to mention a bigger battery, so the Pocket 4 boasts 14 stops of dynamic range and, for the first time, built-in storage with 107GB available.

DJI Osmo Pocket 4 at a glance:

  • Price: from £429/€479
  • 1-inch CMOS sensor
  • 20mm (equiv) f/2 lens
  • 4K/24fps-240fps; 1080p video
  • ISO 50-12,800
  • 2-inch, 556x314px screen

The maximum recording time increased from 166 minutes to 240 minutes in 1080p/24fps. The new 37MP stills output in SuperPhoto mode will please hybrid creators who might have stayed away from the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 because of its relatively low 9.4MP native photo resolution.

The overall handling got an overhaul too, you can simply rotate the screen to start recording in a pinch, while the addition of a new zoom button, 5D joystick and a customisable button makes handling the Pocket 4 much more streamlined. As you can expect, three-axis gimbal stabilisation is on board, combined with multiple gimbal modes and the latest ActiveTrack 7.0, which enables automatic subject tracking even at 4x zoom.

Analogue look is all the rage today, so it’s not surprising that the Pocket 4 includes a selection of Film Tones to choose from alongside a new in-camera Beautify filter that can smooth skin and adjust tones for a more balanced look. Low-light shooting and vlogging are further complemented by a new fill light accessory with three brightness and colour temperature settings.

The DJI Pocket 4 is available to pre-order from today at store.dji.com and is expected to ship from 22 April. Unfortunately, because of the ongoing trade dispute, the Pocket 4 won’t be officially available in the US.

Let’s have a look at what’s included in each Combo kit.
