The video from WHIZZARD! (below) goes through the top 5 best-selling iPhones on Back Market – a site designed to sell refurbished phones, laptops and other electronic devices. With camera phones and iPhone cameras being very good for a long time now, people seem happy to save money by buying an older model, especially as the cost of living goes up. And it turns out the biggest selling refurbished phone is actually… drumroll please…
The iPhone 13, released in September 2021. The phone still gets updates to the latest OS, in fact, Apple have an impressive track record here when it comes to iPhones, with the iPhone 11 and 12 still getting updates to the latest OS (at time of writing). The iPhone 13 is a nice bump up from the iPhone 12 – with 128GB storage as standard (compared to the base iPhone 12 with 64GB). The price on Back Market for an iPhone 13 with a new battery is roughly $300 / £200, making this an impressive budget option.
Buyers also go for the standard iPhone 13 – rather than the 13 Pro – preferring value for money over the extra telephoto lens, or larger screen of the 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 is also one of very few iPhones available in green. In the US, it’s one of the last iPhones to accept SIM cards, with the iPhone 14 series and later switching to eSIMs – luckily people outside of the US still get to use real SIM cards.
The iPhone 13 has a 6.1inch screen, a dual-camera setup, with an ultra wide-angle, and a wide-angle main camera. All cameras have a 12MP sensor, with the selfie camera also 12MP, and all offer 4K video recording. Choosing a phone with more storage, for example 128GB, rather than 64GB, should also give you longer life as well, both in the amount of photos and video you can store, but also much needed space when it does become time to upgrade the OS to the latest version.
The video goes through some of the other best-sellers, with reason why you should and shouldn’t choose certain models, so make sure you give it a watch. Highlights include the iPhone 12, for example, the first iPhone with 5G, and the first with an OLED screen on the base model.
