Viltrox announced two new lenses for the mirrorless Sony FE and Nikon Z-mounts today. Both 35mm and 55mm EVO optics benefit from a bright f/1.8 aperture as part of a broader ecosystem that focuses on versatility for video and stills.
If you are looking to carry only one lens, either the 35mm or 55mm focal lengths are ideal, you can cover subjects like street photography, travel or environmental portraits, and double up as an essential storytelling tool for video. Autofocus is handled by an STM focusing motor that delivers smooth and silent focusing during video capture. A smudge-resistant coating to the front element and a rubber-sealed mount help keep it safe outdoors.
The 55mm lens delivers a perspective that’s naturally the closest to what human eyes can see, you focus on portraits, still life and details.
This is the first standard lens pair from Viltrox with an apochromatic (APO) design, which, alongside an extra-low dispersion glass (ED), significantly reduces chromatic aberration. Despite their all-metal body, they still measure relatively lightweight at 355/370g (FE-mount) as well as compact. There’s a customisable Fn button, a de-click button and an AF/MF Switch as well as a USB-C port on the lens mount for deploying firmware updates.
