Even though the triple camera setup on the back appears to be largely the same as the previous Honor Magic V5, it has a very capable 50MP main camera with a 1/1.56″ sensor, a 64MP telephoto camera with a large 1/2.0″ sensor capable of 3x optical zoom and another 50MP ultrawide unit. Given that it is a folding phone, you get two front-facing cameras; they are identical in specs, with a 20MP selfie camera on the inside screen and another on the smaller outer screen.

The added benefit with fold phones is that you get a huge display; in this case, a 7.95-inch inner screen which lets you edit in a way you never could on a traditional phone. You don’t need to zoom in or turn your device in landscape orientation, and you can also split the screen between apps. The outer 6.52-inch screen makes the V6 easy to hold one-handed when it’s closed.

The IP69 rating is becoming a standard among non-foldable flagships and is present in some mid-range devices too, but foldable and flip phones haven’t achieved it due to their moving parts, which make them more susceptible to dust and liquid ingress.

The Magic V6 is the first foldable phone to achieve the highest water resistance rating, which seems like quite a feat given that you can theoretically submerge it in 1.5m deep water or blast it with a hot water jet.

The camera system is backed by a fast flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which powers multitasking and uses AI to enhance action shots, portraits and zoomed-in images.

As we have seen with previous Honor phones portraits are assisted with the Harcourt colour profiles and produce appealing out of focus areas.

Big screens mean more power consumption, so the V6 is upgraded to a bigger, 6600mAh battery, up from the previous 5820mAh. This should see you through a whole day with normal use, and when needed you can opt for 80W fast wired charging.

All three rear cameras can record up to 4K60p video, while both front-facing cameras are slightly held back at 4K30p. Additionally you can use the V6 half folded without a tripod and place it for static videos. While for movement during both video and stills optical and electronic image stabilisation helps steady the shots.
