Five amateur photographers from the UK have been shortlisted in this year’s Sony World Photography Awards.
Moving a step closer to claiming the $5,000 top prize are Tommy Clarke and Pyung-Hwa Hwa (who were shortlisted in the Fashion category); Ljudmilla Socci (Conceptual and Constructed); Colin Campbell (Landscape); and David Watts (Architecture).
This year’s contest attracted 25,370 entries in the amateur category.
The overall winner will be announced at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on 16 April.
The winner of the professional category – who stands to bag $25,000 in prize money – will claim the title Sony World Photographer of the Year 2009.
