If you are looking for all the benefits of a full-frame camera, but don’t want to pay a full-frame price, then the Canon EOS RP is now one of the most affordable choices with the lowest new price I’ve seen – and renewed it costs even less! There is a lot to like about the 26 megapixel Canon EOS RP and it’s now available on Amazon for $799, a great price for a full-frame camera. Renewed it’s available for $609 – impressively low – although buying from Amazon US, you get a measly 90-day warranty. Buy from a UK retailer who deals in second-hand full-frame cameras, and you’ll find a 6-12 month warranty as standard – however this isn’t much use for those in the US.
While that price is reasonable it has not budged much – in the UK you can buy it for £799 new (from Amazon), or you can get it for around £450 used from MPB.com – in excellent condition with a 12-month warranty included!

It’s worth noting that this camera has been out since 2019 – which explains the cheap price for this full-frame camera – so this is worth being aware of when thinking about buying. The other option is to look at Sony’s A7 series of full-frame cameras – these have been out for even longer (depending on model) and therefore there’s more choice on the second-hand market.
But back to the Canon EOS RP: As we said in our original review, ‘with the EOS RP, Canon has revealed its vision for how entry-level full-frame mirrorless should look…. Rather than simply porting across the existing EOS DSLR interface, it’s employed some clever new ideas, such as the Dial Function setting and Fv exposure mode. The JPEG output is excellent, giving images that are perfectly usable at sensitivities up to ISO 12,800.’
