There are lots of great apps out there for editing photos on your iPhone, but when it comes to getting that classic film photography look, VSCO is still the gold standard.

If you love the unique look of film photography but don’t want to have to buy a film camera, or have ever felt left out as you don’t own a Fujifilm camera with access to the company’s excellent film simulations, the VSCO app is your answer.

VSCO is arguably the best iPhone app out there for analogue film simulations, with a huge range of classic looks to apply to your iPhone images, including the legendary Kodak Kodachrome, plus many more. You can see why VSCO is now the largest online community for photographers, topping more than 300 million members worldwide.

In addition the app comes with a lot of excellent filters – indeed, it’s the best app I have seen for adding convincing infrared effects to your phone shots, both in colour and black and white. Furthermore, VSCO can edit raw (DNG) files taken with your iPhone, giving you as much resolution and detail as possible.

See my full guide to using VSCO here. Anyway, the company has now cut the cost of VSCO Pro by 50% for the first year of monthly subscription (new users only or you just need to re-register). Simply use the code BLACKFRIDAY50.

The offer also applies to the annual subscription and lasts until December 3rd. You can find more information here.

While you can get a free basic version of VSCO, the Pro version gives you a lot more filters and film simulations. VSCO Pro also includes a new AI-powered Remove tool for getting rid of annoying distractions, so it’s money well spent for an app that can transform your iPhone shots!
