A new photo albums business has emerged from ashes left in the wake of Spicer Hallfield which went into administration in April.
The new company, called MTA, has been launched by Spicer Hallfield’s factory manager Martin Abraham and currently employs 10 former Spicer Hallfield staff.
When Spicer Hallfield called in administrators it blamed the ‘worldwide banking crisis’ after talks with RBS failed.
Abraham, who worked at the Buckinghamshire-based business for 23 years, said: ‘Spicer Hallfield was a legacy company and its closure was a sad day for all staff and customers. However, over recent years I had become very frustrated by the company’s inability to develop products that the market place really needed.’
Abraham added: ‘We have won the contract for the hugely popular self-adhesive products and we’ve got a skilled and dynamic team right here on our doorstep.
‘We are all highly motivated to drive this new business forward, despite the current recessive gloom.’
Products planned at the Haddenham-based factory include albums, ‘CD folios’ and ‘mini pocket books’.
