PRESS RELEASE

The theme of the 2015 annual photography competition from HARMAN technology is ‘Saturday Night at the Movies’. Students attending photography courses in the UK are invited to submit images that inspire or remind them of a scene from a movie.

Sticking to the winning formula that brought in over 1,000 entries last year, there are two categories: Darkroom and Digital. Students can submit prints to both categories with no restrictions on the amount of entries that can be made in each.

Entries must be taken on ILFORD or Kentmere film and self-printed in the darkroom on ILFORD or Kentmere black & white paper, or captured digitally and printed on HARMAN PHOTO CRYSTALJET inkjet paper.

The winner of the Darkroom category will be awarded a certificate and the title ‘ILFORD PHOTO Student Photographer of the Year 2015’, and in the Digital category they will get a certificate and be named ‘HARMAN technology Student Photographer of the Year 2015’.

For both categories there is a prize for the winner of £100 worth of product from harmanexpress.com and the winning image professionally printed and framed by ILFORD LAB DIRECT. The runner-up in both categories will also receive a product prize and a certificate. In both the Darkroom and Digital categories a further product prize will be awarded to the college, school or university that submits the most eligible entries.

Michelle Parr, HARMAN technology Education Liaison UK, said, ‘We will be looking for images that stand out from the crowd in that they are imaginative, well shot and printed to the highest standard, and meet the conditions of the brief. As well as image content, the judges will also examine the quality of the print itself.’

The closing date for entries is 31 January 2016.
