Samsung aims to grab a 20% slice of the digital still camera market by 2009 – an 18% increase on its position three years ago, its bosses have revealed.
Samsung outlined the plans while showcasing its latest digital SLR lenses and flashgun, all expected to be available in the UK over the next few months.
The company told us that it is keen to show consumers that its digital SLRs – including the 10-million-pixel GX-10 ? are fully backed up ?system? cameras.
And a senior source at the company has revealed to AP that next month we can expect to hear details of when Samsung will launch its next digital SLR camera.
Samsung?s latest kit was displayed alongside its new range of digital compact cameras, at a press conference held in central London yesterday.
These include the six-million-pixel S630, due out this month priced £89 (pictured).
The company claims that its share of the digital market in 2004 was just over 2%.
The lenses shown included a 10-17mm (£329); 12-24mm (£549); 18-55mm (£199); 16-45mm (£349); 35mm (£299) and 50-200mm (£199).
