Due to land in UK shops in November, the XF1 sports an f/1.8 lens that is designed to deliver the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 25-100mm zoom (operated by twisting the zoom ring).
The lens is made from seven elements in six groups and includes three extra-low dispersion elements.
Featuring a 12-million-pixel 2/3in EXR-CMOS imaging sensor the XF1 is housed in an aluminium body.
The newcomer’s Optical Image Stabilization uses a lens-shift system to help cut camera shake and a macro mode designed to allow shooting down to 3cm.
Users can choose from three sensor modes that include high and low noise, and dynamic range.
Shutter speed and aperture can be controlled using the main command dial and up to six frequently-used settings can be assigned to an expanded-function button.
Other features include a 3in (460,000-dot resolution) monitor, full HD movies, 11 ‘advanced filters’ and five film simulation modes.
A UK price had yet to be released at the time of writing.
