The contest sought documentary-style photos as part of the Grassroads Giving photography project.
Angela Baker, a deputy head teacher from Hull, won the title with an image taken at the Stevie Smith Boxing Academy, earning her a £200 gift voucher and national exposure.
Angela said: I really enjoyed the whole process and getting to know members of my local community.
‘The Stevie Smith Boxing Academy is run by volunteers and their good work is well known in our local area.
‘I’m delighted that my photograph was chosen as the winner and that it will showcase the positive attributes that this and many other community groups have in Hull.’
Roy Prenton, corporate communications consultant at Skipton Building Society, said: ‘It has been phenomenal to see local photographers giving up their time to support local community groups.
‘Angela has really captured the essence of our Grassroots Giving Scheme and we’re really looking forward to showcasing her work.’
