The OM-D E-M10 Mark II, announced earlier today
Olympus today unveiled the OM-D E-M10 Mark II, adding 5-axis image stabilisation, chunkier dials and a redesigned control layout to the original E-M10.
Like its CSC siblings, the E-M10 Mark II deploys a 16MP imaging sensor.
So, is 16MP the limit set by Olympus for this level of camera?
That was the question posed by Amateur Photographer (AP) during a briefing with Olympus representatives.
Although a spokesperson for Olympus Europe would not be drawn on the company’s future development plans, they told AP: ‘Absolute resolution is only part of the package, as we all know.
‘The sensor must deliver all aspects that influence overall image quality and the user experience – sensitivity and dynamic range being perhaps the two keys ones to many people.
‘The Olympus 16MP image sensor produces high-quality images, especially in combination with [the] TruePic image processor and lenses.
‘Although Olympus currently uses a 16MP sensor, with future technology advances it might be possible to produce a model with a higher resolution.’
