The ‘Art Edition’ camera/scooter combination will go on sale from tomorrow, exclusively at Harrods store in London.
Only 10 of the kits are expected to go on sale in the UK.
The outfit will include a pair of Olympus E-P5 camera bodies and ‘all the premium fast prime lenses in the Olympus micro system’ – plus a custom-painted white Vespa.
Olympus points out that the Vespa’s seat can be opened and the camera stored within, making it the ‘ultimate camera bag’.
A design hand-painted by artist Susie (‘Suzko’) Lowe will flow through camera, scooter and helmut and no two kits will be the same, adds the firm.
‘Vespa was chosen because it is a brand with similar heritage to the Olympus Pen’, states a brochure about the London-based project.
‘Extremely cool and coverable in a retro/vintage way, it seemed the perfect “fit” with the Olympus.’
Those buying the kit will qualify for a photo training session with fashion photographer Jay McLaughlin who has documented the customisation process in a limited-edition catalogue about Olympus’s ‘first’ Art Edition kit.
