Nikon has announced development of a new Nikkor Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S – a telephoto zoom lens with a built-in 1.4x teleconverter – made for full-frame Nikon mirrorless cameras. The lens belongs to the ‘S-Line’ series, which is Nikon’s top dog when it comes to offering the best possible image quality. With the 1.4x teleconverter, the reach is extended to 420mm.
Very little information is provided in Nikon’s press release (below), but looking at the image provided by Nikon we can see that the lens is “Made in Japan” and offers a drop-in filter. Other buttons we can see include an A/M switch – for auto-focus / manual focus selection, and there’s also a L-Fn – lens-function button. If you’re familiar with other Nikon Z mount lenses, then you’ll recognise the zoom ring, as well as focus ring, along with additional buttons and strap mounting points. Nikon say the lens is ideal for sports photography, and other uses beyond this.
