Due to go on sale on 8 September, the 13.2-million-pixel model features a 2.7in (230,000-dot resolution) LCD screen and is designed to be capable of shooting for up to an hour underwater.
Tim Carter, senior product manager for Coolpix at Nikon UK, claimed: ‘The new Coolpix W100 gives you the freedom to shoot quality photos and full HD movies, while being able to withstand those unexpected knocks and action underwater as deep as 10m.’
Nikon says users will also be able to instantly transfer images to an iOS device using SnapBridge, via a firmware update due out in October.
Carter added: ‘Wherever you are in the world, SnapBridge can automatically sync images via Bluetooth Smart Ready to your smartphone or tablet allowing you to share your images instantly with your friends and family back home.
‘The easy operation and option to switch between the adult and child-friendly menu make it the ideal family camera as it’s easy to use by everyone.’
The Nikon Coolpix W100 is set to cost £129.99.
