The new system, which they are calling a G-format, looks very much like an SLR. The Fujifilm GFX50S has a brand new sensor, which at 43.8 x 32.9 is 1.7x larger than a full-frame sensor. As the G-format is a mirrorless camera it can be a lot smaller than a traditional medium format camera, making it still very light and small compared with an SLR.
The Fujifilm GFX50S has traits from the X-series of cameras, such as a tilting LCD screen. It has two dials at the top, a removable viewfinder and the menu system is very similar to those on the X-series.
Fujifilm revealed their GF lens development schedule at Photokina 2016
To tie in with the development announcement of the GFX50S, Fujifilm has released their GF lens development schedule. With the launch of the GFX50S (expected in early 2017) there will be three lenses available – the GF 63mm f/2.8 R WR, GF 32-64mm f/4 R LM WR and the GF 120mm f/4 R LM OIS WR Macro. Three lenses will follow later in 2017 and these are the GF 110mm f/2.0 R LM WR, GF 23mm f/4 R LM WR and the GF 45mm f/2.8 R WR.
