Sony has today announced the upcoming launch of its first digital compact cameras to feature 3D Sweep Panorama still image functionality.
Images can be viewed in 3D on a 3D compatible TV, according to Sony.
The 12.2-million-pixel Cyber-shot DSC-WX5 (pictured) and Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 also boast full HD video (1920×1080 pixels).
The WX5 sports a 5x f/2.4 Sony G lens and a 2.8in screen, while the TX9 carries a 4x Carl Zeiss zoom and 3.5in LCD monitor.
The pair are due in shops in September at prices yet to be announced.
Using an optional underwater housing available for the TX9, photographers can select Underwater Sweep Panorama – a mode designed to optimise white balance for ?clear, natural results with underwater subjects?.
Sony?s recently announced NEX-5 and NEX-3 interchangeable lens system cameras already allow users to shoot 3D images, via a firmware upgrade.
