Eastman Kodak is being sued by US Philips Corp for allegedly infringing a Philips-held patent used in making Kodak EasyShare digital cameras and scanners, according to reports in the United States.
The lawsuit, filed yesterday in the U.S District Court in Delaware, names ?dozens? of EasyShare cameras that allegedly infringe a patent held by US Philips Corp, which is a subsidiary of Dutch technology company Philips Electronics Ltd.
The lawsuit is understood to allege infringement of a 1990 patent that covers the JPEG encoding of images. It also claims infringement concerning Kodak?s EasyShare, Scanner Application and Capture software packages.
No-one at either company was available for comment at the time of writing.
