Martin’s image, entitled ‘Personality’, beat more than 2,500 entries from almost 1,000 photographers to win the Masters of Photography ‘The Last Word’ competition.
The top prize is a Fujifilm X-Pro1 camera and a trip to a whisky distillery.
Entrants were urged to upload a portrait, alongside a single word that captured the mood of their photograph.
The public voted for their favourite shots – creating a shortlist of 50.
A judging panel, which included Royal Photographic Society president Roy Robertson, then chose the overall winner.
Commenting on Martin’s shot, judges said: ‘The spontaneous, yet controlled nature of the shot is very appealing.
‘The setting and colour harmony works well, to create a visually stimulating and thought-provoking image.’
The global contest was launched to mark The Macallan’s third Masters of Photography Series, a collaboration with famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.
