CineStill 800Tungsten Xpro C-41, a high-speed colour film, is already out in 35mm format.
Now campaigners in the US plan to launch a 120-format version following ‘overwhelming demand’.
‘We are looking to the film community to invest in the future of film and fuel the analogue renaissance,’ states CineStill on the Kickstarter website.
It adds: ‘Currently, photographers have very limited options when shooting in artificial, continuous light… No other still photography film produces such natural colour and fine grain when shooting in tungsten light.
‘This opens up a whole new world of shooting possibilities for photographers, allowing them to shoot [with] the cameras they love in limited available light or in the studio with continuous hot lights, similar to those used on the set of a motion picture film.’
CineStill, which is based in Los Angeles, says it is targeting shipment of the film in the US for February 2015.
People who pledge $20 or more can expect to receive a single roll of 120 CineStill 800T.
So far, more than 500 people have pledged a total of $57,000, with five weeks to go until the Kickstarter deadline expires.
