We are now seeing some great deals on APS-C based mirrorless cameras, which remain a very sensible choice if you don’t need to go full-frame, and want to keep costs down after Christmas.
Looking around the web, I was seriously impressed by this deal on the Canon EOS R100 with a 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 lens. The price has been slashed to under 500 bucks!
For your money, you get a very small, portable camera that delivers consistently attractive JPEG files, with well-judged colour and exposure. Another attraction is the brilliant subject recognition autofocus system that’s the highlight feature of Canon’s next model up, the EOS R50.
You can also record video at 4k, making it a great choice if you want to do more video in 2026.
