A camera may soon be used to help blind music legend Stevie Wonder see, reports the Daily Mirror.
The 55-year-old musician, who lost his eyesight shortly after birth, has agreed to have pioneering surgery whereby an external camera – fitted to a frame similar to a pair of glasses – would ?feed images to a microchip inserted on his retina?.
The camera would lock on to an image and convert it into a series of electronic signals, reports the Daily Mirror in its 6 October edition. ?The chip converts the signals into nerve impulses which are fed to the brain and processed into images,? writes the newspaper?s Ryan Parry.
