To accompany its newly announced K100D Super DSLR Pentax is to introduce a compact, entry level, flash unit with a guide number of 20m @ ISO 100.
The AF200FG, which is set to be priced at £99 and on sale at the end of August, is designed to be used as a TTL hotshoe unit with controls handled directly by the camera.
The P-TTL /TTL modes are supplemented with a two position flash exposure compensation slider for simple -1EV and -0.5EV fill-in flash operation, according to Pentax, while a manual mode outputs full power every time.
A wide angle diffuser takes the lens coverage from 28mm to 24mm (35mm equivalent) and four fully charged AA battery cells will recycle the flash in four seconds ? and provide up to 300 bursts – claims Pentax.
? The new flash unit was first showcased at the PMA trade show in Las Vegas in March (see AP News 31 March 2007) but no details were made available at the time
