Well timed for the week of International Womens Day, Leica USA has announced the recipients of the Leica Women Foto Project Award.
Launched in 2019 to create a platform for “empowering the female perspective and its impact on today’s visual stories,” the award encourages diversity and inclusion in visual storytelling to amplify voices typically underrepresented in photography and photojournalism – a space that continues to see overwhelmingly more photo bylines published by men than women, according to the company.
Selected by a panel of experts in the photography industry, the three award recipients – Matika Wilbur, Karen Zusman and Anna Boyiazis – will each receive $10,000 to use towards the completion of their project, in addition to a Leica Q2 and help with mentoring and professional development opportunities.
