Wildlife Photographer of the Year 50-year showcase

They include a photo of a bat occupying a destroyed World War II bunker in a remote forest in Poland (see above).

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition opens at the Natural History Museum in London on 24 October.

At its launch in 1965, the contest attracted just 361 entries. Today it pulls in almost 42,000.
