The SP [‘Super Performance’] 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD and SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD will be available in Nikon and Canon mounts when they go on sale in October, at prices yet to be announced.
A Sony version is due out at a later date.
Designed for both full-frame and APS-C-size-sensor cameras, the ‘moisture-resistant’ newcomers feature Vibration Compensation and a nine-blade diaphragm.
‘The design philosophy of these new fast fixed-focal-length lenses opens a new chapter in the SP legend,’ Tamron said in a statement.
‘Engineering processes and opto-mechanical construction have been totally integrated in the design process to create great feel to these lenses and deliver exceptional resolving power whilst reproducing fine details with subtle tonal gradations.’
Tamron trumpets the close-focusing distances of the new lenses: 20cm on the 35mm and 29cm on the 45mm optic.
The lenses also boast an Ultrasonic Silent Drive, which aims to deliver fast, quiet AF, and a flourine coating on the front element to help repel water and fingerprints.
