Now in its 17th year, the Sony World Photography Awards continue to champion inclusivity and supporting photographers at each stage of their career. Acting as an insight into photography today in all its diversity, the Awards spotlights photographers telling the stories of our time. Sony World Photography Awards 2024 is open to all photographers around the world including students, and is free to enter.

Professional
Enter your best photo series and you could win $25,000, a solo exhibition, a range of top Sony digital imaging equipment and more. There are awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photographers plus up to 7 shortlisted photographers per category.
Categories in this competition include Architecture & Design, Creative, Documentary Projects, Environment, Landscape, Portraiture, Portfolio, Wildlife & Nature, Still Life and Sport.

Open
Enter your best single images for the chance to win $5,000, top Sony digital imaging equipment plus more. Images must have been taken in 2023, and enter up to three images for free. Awards are available for category winners plus up to 15 shortlisted photographers per category. Image entry bundles are available for more entries.
Categories in this competition include Architecture, Creative, Motion, Landscape, Lifestyle, Natural World & Wildlife, Object, Portraiture, Street Photography, and Travel.
Youth
A dedicated competition for young photographers under 19 years-old, submitting single images taken in 2023. Photographers can enter up to three images relating to the theme ‘Through Your Eyes’. Judges will select a shortlist of up to 10 photographers.
Student
This competition provides a platform for photography students worldwide. First place will win Sony digital imaging equipment.
Free to enter for anyone aged from 18 to 30 years-old undertaking a full-time photography programme. Defined as: photography course/credit/module/foundation which is taught at higher education level, within a diploma / Bachelor of Arts / Master of Arts curriculum.
Students answer a set brief with 5 to 10 images and up to 10 photographers will be shortlisted.
