These latest editions to the Alpha range, announced this morning, are the most advanced SLT models to date and are aimed at the serious amateur. The two cameras both feature Sony?s latest 24.3-mega-pixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and an enhanced BIONZ processor. The A77 boasts a 12fps full-resolution continuous shooting with phase detection, 19-point AF with 11 cross-type sensors, and 50-16,000 ISO range, while the A65 has 15-point AF with 3 cross-type sensors, 10fps continuous shooting and 100-16,000 ISO. The new XGA OLED electronic viewfinder features 100% field of view and 2.3million dot effective resolution. The rear LCD is a 3in wide TFT with 921k dot resolution with adjustable angle (2-way on A65 and 3-way on A77). Full HD video and 3D sweep panorama are available on both models.
Sony also announced a new lens and range of accessories including the DT 16-50mm f/2.8 SSM, vertical grip and HVL-F43AM external flash. The A65 and A77 will be available from October 2011.
Prices are expected to be as follows: A65 body only £800, with 18-55mm lens £900,
A77 body only £1150, with 16-50 lens £1650, 16-50 lens £550, grip £270, flash £300
