Jan Klos’s Gold Medal-winning shot was captured at the Nelson’s Head in Shoreditch, East London.
Published in The Photographic Guide to the Pubs of East London, it eclipsed around 5,000 entries in this year’s contest.
‘Embracing all genres and styles of photography, the International Print Exhibition combines photographic skill with ideas rich in meaning, message and technique,’ the RPS states on its website.
Frank Machalowski from Germany clinched the Silver Medal and Tadao Cern picked up this year’s Bronze Medal.
The Under-30s Gold Medal went to the UK’s David Severn.
The 100 shortlisted images are due to go on show at the Royal Photographic Society International Print Exhibition at the Old Truman Brewery in London from 9-13 October, before touring the UK.
Photographer Simon Roberts, one of the judges, said: ‘I believe we have selected an exemplary range of work, reflecting different age groups, nationalities and the varying interests, methodology and vibrant aesthetics of the photographic medium today.’
The 100 best photos have been published in a catalogue now available from the RPS website.
