Poirot actor David Suchet CBE was among the first to congratulate Nikon dealer Grays of Westminster on its 25th anniversary earlier this week.
Nikon UK presented staff with a trophy to celebrate the milestone during a celebratory lunch at The Goring hotel in Belgravia.
The trophy ? which features a 3D image of the legendary Nikon F camera ? was awarded to mark the store?s ?outstanding contribution to Nikon users?.
Suchet, a dedicated fan of the London-based shop, sent his personal congratulations, apologising that he could not be there in person as he was filming Great Expectations, a drama for the BBC.
Gray Levett, founder of the store which he set up with £100 and ?no stock to speak of?, said he was ?delighted and honoured? at the recognition from Nikon.
?This is a significant moment in our history? From the very beginning we aimed to offer our customers the very best service and the finest in Nikon equipment.
?Surviving the past 25 years has been made possible by our very loyal customers, the hard work of our staff and our strong relationship with Nikon UK, and Nikon Japan.’
In a letter to Levett, Makota Kimura, president of Nikon Corporation, wrote: ?Grays of Westminster is a well-known and respected business that has become almost a household name amongst professional photographers?
?This is no doubt a result of your commitment to your customers and understanding of the Nikon brand.?
Guests at the lunch included renowned celebrity photographer Richard Young.
