The talks, which are free, are due to take place on 15 March from 10am-5.30pm. Subjects include: How many pixels do you need & getting your pixel’s worth; high-speed photography; and 3D/stereo imaging.

Organised by the Royal Photographic Society the ‘art of scientific imaging’ event also includes the chance to hop on board the ‘Camper Obscura’ – a camera obscura in a campervan – on 16 March.

Cambridge University scientist Dr Stefanie Reichelt, one of the speakers, said: ‘An image speaks more than a thousand words.

‘In the digital world of today, this is truer than ever; capturing images has never been easier, but also has never been as exciting with new imaging technologies emerging.’

The best entries from this year’s University of Cambridge Department of Engineering photography competition will be on show from 10-22 March (except 16 March).

The events take place at the ArtCell Gallery, Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, Li Ka Shing Centre, Robinson Way, Cambridge CB2 0RE.
