Organised by London-based photographer Mark Sherratt, Prints for Refugees aims to raise money for Doctors of the World – a charity that helps to provide vital medical aid to refugees.
Mark, an advertising and editorial photographer (pictured below), said: ‘It was that awful picture of drowned Syrian toddler Aylan Kurdi which inspired me to do something.
‘I guess, like many people, I was seeing this tragic thing happening and feeling powerless to do anything about it and wanted to try to help in some small way.’
Mark – who said that all the funds from the online print sales will go to the charity – added: ‘I already knew of Doctors of the World’s fantastic work, as my wife, who is a doctor, had volunteered for them, and being the only charity offering medical help to the refugees in Calais and also working across the rest of Europe, they seemed to be the perfect fit to partner with in this project.’
Photographers backing the project so far include Spencer Murphy, Samuel Hicks and David Ryle.
‘I’m pleased to say that the response from the photographic community has been fantastic, with lots of my favourite artists very happy to give away their amazing work,’ Mark wrote on the project’s website.
