Wildlife photography enthusiasts are urged to apply for a chance to compete in a new BBC natural history television series from the makers of Planet Earth.
The series, To the Ends of the Earth, will involve successful candidates spending up to ten weeks away from home in spring 2009.
Producer Eireann Henderson told Amateur Photographer: ?We are looking for nine people who share a passion for the natural world. As well as wildlife lovers and outdoor enthusiasts we would very much like to hear from keen photographers.?
Though the BBC says details are yet to be finalised, entertainment website tvscoop bills the show as ?like X Factor but with newts?, whereby candidates will have to ?track down and film extraordinary animals in extraordinary places?.
Henderson added: ‘I can confirm that after a brief period of learning they will be filming footage themselves. We’re looking for people who want to work behind the scenes on these natural history programmes, rather than present them.’
Up for grabs to the winner is a year?s placement in the BBC?s world famous Natural History Unit.
Applicants must be 18 or over and there is no age limit.
