Photographer Ryan Chatfield was filming the coastline in Western Australia when the battery on his drone began to run out.
The video shows Ryan breaking into a sprint and clambering over rocks as he attempts to rescue the drone from landing in the water.
The video (below) has been watched more than 670,000 times since it was loaded onto YouTube on Monday.
Last week, Amateur Photographer revealed there has been a 53% surge in ‘permissions’ granted for commercial drone use – including aerial photography – in the past six months, according to figures released by the UK’s aviation watchdog.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the number of approved commercial operators has grown to 549.
This compared to a reported 359 drone operators in October.
Drone maker DJI announced a new easier-to-use drone, targeted at amateur photographers.
In an interview, DJI PR manager Michael Perry was asked about drone safety.
He explained that the firm’s latest drones use GPS firmware to prevent a drone from taking off if it is near an airport, for example.
