The 11-elements-in-9-groups lens features three aspherical lenses and an Extra-low Dispersion element to help counter distortion.
Due to arrive in the UK in May, priced £439, the seven-blade-diaphragm newcomer incorporates a stepping motor designed to ensure smooth, silent operation when shooting video.
Delivering the 35mm viewing-angle of a 24-120mm zoom – which should suit portraiture and travel photography – the 5x lens boasts 0.54x magnification and Power OIS to help fight camera shake.
Built to be dustproof and splashproof, it will be available in ‘metallic black’.
Press release
Panasonic’s new LUMIX G VARIO 12-60mm lens (35mm camera equivalent ‐ 24-120mm) is a versatile lens offering high performance and durability. It is built to the Micro Four Thirds System standard, and provides a maximum aperture opening of F3.5 at the wide angle and F5.6 at the tele end, as well as Panasonic’s POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabiliser).
Built to excel in a range of environments, this is the perfect lens to deal with any unexpected shooting opportunities while out with your camera. Combined with its compact size, this makes the new LUMIX G VARIO lens a great option for everyday use, whether at home or on your travels.
Comprising 11 elements in nine groups, the lens system features three aspherical lenses and an ED lens element (Extra-low Dispersion) to avoid distortion and assure stunning picture quality. The multi-coated lens elements also minimise ghosts and flare, enhancing shooting performance and maximising results ─ even in bright sunlight.
The aperture consists of seven blades forming a round opening, which produces a beautiful bokeh effect in the out-of-focus-area.
To offer optimal performance of autofocus in fast shooting and 4K-modes, the lens incorporates an inner focus drive system and stepping motor, delivering a focusing speed of up to 240 frames per second (fps). This ensures smooth, silent operation with the LUMIX G’s high speed, high precision contrast AF.
The versatile 5x zoom range of 24-120mm (35mm camera equivalent) covers a variety of shooting situations such as travel landscapes or intricate portraits. It also features a 0.54x magnification capability for crystal clear macro close-up shots (compared to full frame).
The integrated POWER O.I.S. effectively compensates for any hand-shake movements, making it easier to take photos in low-lit environments. The lens also works with a Dual I.S. system when mounted on a compatible Panasonic LUMIX G camera, such as the GX8.
Splash and dustproof, the new LUMIX G interchangeable lens enables the active photographer to go out shooting even in poor weather conditions or challenging environments. To match the strong build quality of LUMIX G cameras, the new zoom lens includes a highly durable metal mount.
Available in sleek, metallic black, the new LUMIX G VARIO lens’ design perfectly matches the wider LUMIX G range to offer uncompromising style.
