Panasonic will today use the German trade show to showcase the high-end compact, which features a 16-million-pixel, micro four thirds imaging sensor borrowed from the GX7 compact system camera.
It also features 4K video that allows users to extract an 8M still image, and deploys a Venus Engine IX processing engine, as featured on the high-end GH4 compact system camera.
The LX100 carries a Leica DC Vario-Summilux f/1.7-2.8 lens, designed to produce the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 24-75mm zoom.
It has nine diaphragm blades, the first time in a Lumix compact. The multi-aspect sensor allows a choice of formats: 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9.
Manual control is aided by the inclusion of an aperture ring and shutter speed dial, for example.
‘The use of physical dials means that you have direct access to settings which can be changed quickly without having to go through a digital menu,’ explained Panasonic.
Features also include a 2.7m-dot EVF and a claimed burst rate of 11 frames per second. The LX100 will cost £799 and is due to arrive in October.
