Olympus has revamped its Four Thirds system E-500 and E-400 digital SLRs to reveal the 10-million-pixel E-510 and E-410, each featuring a Live MOS sensor.
Olympus has also confirmed to AP that the long-awaited successor to Olympus?s E-1 pro-spec model will be launched in ?late summer? following an announcement due to be made as we went to press. However, a spokesman would not comment on speculation that this will be called the ?E-2?.
Revealed just days ahead of the PMA photo trade show in Las Vegas is the E-510 (pictured)which will cost around £600 (body only). It will also come in a kit with a 14-42mm lens priced around £700 and with both a 14-42mm and 40-150mm lens in a kit costing around £800.
While, the E-410 will carry a body only price tag of around £500; or £600 including a 14-42mm lens; and around £700 for the double zoom kit.
Unlike the E-410, the E-510 boasts an ?electromechanical? image stabilization feature (?sensor-shift? type) which moves the image sensor to help compensate for any camera shake detected by the camera?s ?gyro sensors?.
Both models have Hi-Speed USB connectivity for downloading images and a new ?faster? image processing engine (TruePic III) compared to previous models, designed to deliver ?excellent noise performance?.
The cameras are not due out in the UK until June.
