New lens for fixed focal length line-up: smc PENTAX-DA 35mm F2.4AL
Pentax is set to add a new 35mm fixed focal length lens to its line-up with the introduction of a smc PENTAX-DA 35mm F2.4AL lens that will be suitable for APS-C digital cameras. Brought in to run alongside, rather than replace, the existing smc DA 35mm f/2.8 macro lens from the KB Limited Edition range, the new lens is very slightly smaller, but at 124g is significantly lighter, than the 215g macro-enabled current 35mm model.
Designed with 6 elements in 5 groups, and featuring a minimum aperture of f/22 the new optic will allow focusing down to 0.3m with a maximum magnification of 0.17x. Without the aperture ring of some of the company?s other fixed focal length lenses, this new 35mm requires a K-mount body with built-in diaphragm control. On an APS-C digital body the lens will provide a similar angle of capture as a 54mm lens would on a full frame body.
The lens will be available from mid-October at around £179.
