Deadline draws near for Landscape Photographer of the Year 2016 competition

Now celebrating its tenth year running, the Landscape Photographer of the Year competition for 2016 is calling out for any final entries before the entry period closes this Sunday, 10 July.

Featuring a grand prize of £10,000, as well as several other prizes (as well as an award class specific to those under 17 years of age) the competition is open to everyone to enter in four different categories:

Classic View: Landscape photography in its purist form – sweeping views that capture the beauty and splendour of the UK in one image.

Living the View: Images of people interacting with the outdoors – working or playing in the UK Landscape.

Your View: Entrants are to express what the UK landscape means to them through photography. It is a way to comment on the way we treat our landscapes and a chance to provide a new way of looking at our environment.

Urban View: A category for pictures taken in cities and towns. With almost 80% of the UK population living in built up areas, the landscapes that we connect with on a day-to-day basis are increasingly of an urban nature.

Interested photographers can enter a maximum of 25 photographs across the four categories. Unlike many other photographic competitions, LPOTY celebrates the United Kingdom only, offering photographers worldwide the opportunity to showcase their images of this diverse country. Do note that although images entered into the competition have to be of the UK, you don’t have to live here to take part!

An exhibition of winning photographs will premiere in November 2016, and approximately 150 of the best entries will also be featured in the official book – the Landscape Photographer of the Year Collection 10.
