Veteran BBC war reporter Kate Adie is due to present £5,481 of lottery cash to the Rye & District Camera Club in East Sussex, enabling it to ?go digital?.

The club tells us that the cheque, issued by National Lottery distributor Awards for All, will be presented on 13 September ? the opening day of the club?s annual print exhibition.

The money will be used to buy a digital projector, laptop computer and software.

Club spokesman Nick Chillingworth said: ?This awards means so much to our small club? We can now look forward to the future with modern equipment that will last for years to come.?

He added: ?As well as normal club activities we plan to hold digital photographic workshops, displays and exhibitions. In future we will offer this service to other local groups including clubs and schools.?

Kate Adie is understood to have agreed to present the money after she delivers a talk as part of the Rye Arts Festival.

The club?s exhibition will take place at the Further Education Centre, Lion Street, Rye.

? Amateur Photographer is planning to feature more club news as part of a new section in the magazine. Please email details of exhibitions, talks and other events to chris_cheesman@ipcmedia.com
