Apple?s iPhone 4S smartphone, which was unveiled last night, features an eight-million-pixel camera and a larger aperture, f/2.4, lens.
Due out in the UK on 14 October, the iPhone 4S also boasts an imaging processor ?that?s just as good as the ones found in DSLR cameras?.
Apple claims: ?The camera also uses advanced algorithms in IOS 5 [operating system] for even more colour accuracy, better white balance, and greater dynamic range?.
The firm adds that an ?advanced hybrid filter keeps out harmful IR light, so you?ll see more accurate and uniform colours?.
There is also a built-in HDR mode, that saves both the original image and the HDR version to the phone.
Earlier this year, photographers reported that the iPhone was proving a more useful photography tool than professional DSLRs in war-torn Afghanistan.
