The Hasselblad A5D camera has been bundled with DJI’s M600 drone, as the first product to spring from a strategic alliance announced last November.
In a statement, Hasselblad said that its A5D camera ‘combines the world’s best optics and sensors with a modern, compact design.
‘The sensors are almost twice the size of those used in today’s best 35mm DSLR cameras and the A5D lens comes in 50mm.’
Hasselblad CEO Perry Oosting added: ‘Combining best-in-class aerial optics with the world’s most powerful aerial platform is a natural development for DJI and Hasselblad.
‘We are delighted to provide this unique bundle to professional photographers, surveyors and mappers.’
Hasselblad’s A5D aerial camera is available in either 50- or 80-million-pixel versions, with the option of adding an infrared filter to help with specialist applications such as environmental surveying and crop management.
Hasselblad said the two companies are planning to launch further products.
Last year, DJI acquired a minority stake in the legendary camera maker in a move designed to allow the companies to combine their ‘technical knowledge and inventive spirit’.
At the time, DJI’s founder and CEO Frank Wang said: ‘Hasselblad and DJI share a passion to provide creative people with cutting-edge, inventive technology to help them take visual storytelling to the next level.
‘With this partnership, we combine our strengths to further push the borders of what’s possible in imaging technology.’
