The Phantom 3 also boasts Lightbridge, allowing HD video streaming in real time.
The move comes amid reports that the drone industry will be worth $100 billion within 10 years, according to the China-based company.
DJI claims the Phantom 3 ‘pushes accessible aerial creativity to new heights, providing greater image control, portability, performance and affordability to aerial platforms like never before’.
There are two versions of the Phantom 3, both with a camera that shoots 12MP stills.
The Phantom 3 Professional will feature a 4K video camera, while the Phantom 3 Advanced carries a 1,080p video camera.
In a statement released to coincide with launch events in New York, London and Munich, DJI added: ‘The updated DJI pilot app will feature a flight simulator for the Phantom 3 as well as a new Director function that will allow users to automatically edit the best aerial footage from their flights and post to social media channels.’
