Photographic retailer Digital Depot has gone into administration and is up for sale after running into financial problems. However, the firm is still trading and it is ‘business as usual’ say administrators.
?We are continuing to trade with a view to finding a buyer. We are going to advertise the company as a going concern to see what interest we can generate,? said Stephen Silver a manager at London-based accountancy firm Berley, the appointed administrators.
?It is in financial difficulties and we are trying to salvage it,? he told Amateur Photographer.
Asked what this means for people planning to order camera gear from the Hertfordshire-based firm, Silver added: ?It?s business as usual. If we have it in stock we will fulfil the order.?
The company was placed into administration on Monday to ?protect it from creditors?.
Silver said that ?one or two staff? have been laid off.
He added: ?It?s very early stages at the moment. We are dealing with clients and statutory work.?
Formed in 1999, Digital Depot prides itself on being the ?first dedicated digital camera store in Europe?.
It was founded by Barry Young who has more than 40 years experience in the photographic and computer electronics industry.
The firm is based in Stevenage.
