Potentially vital paparazzi evidence may be heard at the Diana inquest if an appeal by the coroner against an earlier High Court ruling is successful.
Lord Justice Scott Baker has challenged a High Court decision that meant photographers? statements cannot be read out to the jury, even though they have refused to appear in person.
Judges ruled, earlier this week, that ?cross-examination? would not be possible if the photographers did not appear in person, reports BBC News.
The High Court judges deemed that evidence can only be admitted by calling a witness – meaning that the coroner would need to track down people who took down official statements from the paparazzi following Diana?s death on 31 August 1997.
