Legendary camera maker Minox is on the verge of producing its last 35mm film-based camera, its UK distributor has confirmed.
?This is the end of an era,? said Dave Morgan, product co-ordinator for Minox at Newpro UK. ?With a production of nearly two million cameras, the Minox 35mm ?classic? series represents one of the most successful 35mm manual compact cameras in the history of Minox.?
The series was born in 1974 with the launch of the Minox 35 EL.
Minox has begun ?final production? of the last in the 35mm series, the GT-S model.
Morgan confirmed that production of this ?last batch? of 35mm film-based cameras and flashes will cease when all of the available component parts for the GT-S have been used up. ?After that, there will be no more,? he told us.
Sporting a 35mm f/2.8 Minoxar lens the GT-S (pictured) comes with a matching FC-S flash in a kit costing £299.
Morgan said that production of certain Minox miniature film-based models will continue.
